Tips to Be an Efficient, Effective Applicant

Tips to Be an Efficient, Effective Applicant

It is common for prospective students to stress about everything that comes along with applying to a nursing program, but don’t worry! Here are some tips to make the most efficient and effective use of your time to ensure a smooth application process:

Review your specific program information on our website:

With over 20 different nursing programs, it is important that you review the admission requirements and information for your specific program. The website offers the most up to date material to help make sure you meet eligibility requirements fulfill the prerequisites you need before the program starts. This allows you to plan ahead so there are no surprises if you are accepted!

Start your application early.

While cliché to say, “the early bird gets the worm,” this statement rings true for any admissions cycle. Transcript delivery will take longer than you think, a recommender could have a pressing work issue interfere with their submission, or you may forget about that one course you took the summer of your sophomore year which means you need to redo your course entry and request yet another transcript. Start your application at least two months prior to the deadline to give yourself time to navigate the unexpected delays that will inevitably pop up during this process.

We advise you to get all of your materials in prior to the deadline—it will take the stress off your shoulders and ensure that your application is reviewed for consideration. Do not wait to start, the deadline will always arrive sooner than you think!

Be clear and concise with your needs.

Our office works hard to be available for all prospective applicants, no matter what program, for questions via phone, email, and even drop in virtual hours. To make sure we are providing you with the information you need, please make sure to let us know what program you are applying for and be as specific as you can when it comes to your questions. Don’t forget to add your name to your email! Details are always welcome as we work with thousands of students throughout the year. The more information you can give us up front, the quicker we can provide you with the appropriate information to help you through the process.

Take advantage of connecting with us.

There are multiple opportunities to connect with us in person or virtually and we highly recommend taking advantage of the vast array of events that are available. Can’t make any of the live events? No problem! We have a page dedicated to recordings of past events that supply ample information for you to view at your convenience.

What to know more tips? Join us on Monday, June 27 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 pm ET for a live workshop featuring our Admissions Officers to discuss more ways you can make the upcoming application cycle easier!
